ISSN 2105 6008.Introduction The importance of strategic management case analysis cannot be gainsaid. David (2011) defined a strategic management case as a detailed description of a situation faced by an organization, involving the evaluation of an organization’s internal and external conditions while at the same time raising issues concerning the organization’s mission, strategies, objectives and policies. David (2011) views a strategic management case as an important tool for developing the ability in strategic managers to evaluate business situations critically in order to analyse options, make choices and find solutions to the challenges that they face every day. Although Safaricom (K) is East Africa’s largest and most profitable telecommunications company, posting a net profit of Ksh. 38.1 billion for the FY ending March 2016 (Mukami, 2016), a critical assessment of its strategic business units is a prudent strategic management practice which can enhance its performance and productivity. The purpose of this paper is therefore to undertake a case analysis for Safaricom (K) in the context of the following areas: An Overview of the company, A critical evaluation of the vision and Mission statements, External Environmental Assessment, Internal Environmental Assessment, Strategic Analysis and Choices, Ethics and Social Responsibility, Strategic Review, Evaluation and Control , Conclusion and References.
